             Shane's Clean Slate Story

Reflecting on my 51 years, I'm continually amazed at how God transforms our choices
into something beautiful. Raised in Massachusetts by strict yet loving parents, my
natural rebellion set me on the journey that defined my early life.
As a young man I worked for a construction company, framing buildings for prominent
people on the east coast. Full of ambition and always chasing money, I eventually was
able to run a company of 125 workers. Nine years ago I was approached to help
construct a new building for Adult&Teen Challenge in Brockton, Mass. that would house their
new clinical short-term program and serve as their corporate headquarters. Though
things appeared to be going well for me at the time, my life was actually crumbling
around me. I was in the midst of a divorce and facing legal trouble. After 14 years of
sobriety, I started using again, which lead to years of self-destruction. I neglected my
children, hid my addiction, and knew I was destroying my life.
I finally ended up entering the short-term program in the building that I had overseen the
construction of.  I couldn’t get into any other program, but when I called them they
said, “Come right in.” It took another 4 years for me to decide to enter the long-term
program at Adult&Teen Challenge's Brockton's center. A family intervention had
confirmed what God Himself had already told me. I had been crying out for help without
even knowing who I was crying out to, and God showed up and told me

                                               “I will never leave you.”
Since then, I am constantly amazed at the results that I have seen. I have been
physically healed and I’m reassured that my children are okay.
Now, I’ve accepted a calling here in Johnson, Vt. to oversee Property Maintenance.

Although I’ve run companies of over 100 employees, I have never felt the
love and peace that I feel now serving at Adult&Teen Challenge!
