Virtual Ride FAQ

1. General

What is a virtual ride?
A virtual ride can be ridden anytime and anywhere, even indoors on a stationary bike.  Ride in virtual reality if you want. Participants in Virtual Rides can earn awesome rewards for themselves while raising money for charity.

How does a virtual ride work?

Simply register for one of our virtual rides, complete the distance. Send us a short (10 seconds max) video about your experience and we will mail you a rider’s bag, T-shirt, and jersey (if you have qualified for one.)

Can anyone participate?

Yes! Young or old, fast or slow – we encourage participants of all ages and ability levels.

Do I have to complete the entire distance all at once?

Most participants complete their virtual ride all at once, but we understand that not everyone is able to complete the entire distance in one outing. Others like to set a very long goal and chip away at it over the course of a month (or longer), which is perfectly fine too! What we are doing here is less about strict rules than it is about providing motivation to help with your personal goal setting, while raising money for a great cause in the process.

So set your goal – whatever that may be – and go out and accomplish it! If you want to break up your virtual ride into multiple segments, that’s perfectly fine. You can submit your results when you reach your goal distance.

How do I track my distance and time my ride?
We accept results on the honor system, so you can track your distance and time however you like.

Where and how do I upload my results?

email to info@tourdeslate.org

Do I have to complete the distance to receive my rewards?
No. We will mail bags to everyone who sends us their “experience” video.

When must the ride be finished?
You may start the ride any time after you register. You must complete the ride by August 2, 2024.  Remember that the main purpose of this event is to raise funds while having fun.  Funds must be received by Tour de Slate the end of event day to quality for the free ride or free jersey.

What if I can’t complete my ride during the ride period?
Life happens. We get it. You can still send us your video to be added to our website.  Online donations can be made at any time.

Are there any hidden fees? There are no hidden fees.

Do I pay the fee at registering? Yes

How much does shipping cost?
We do not charge shipping fees, however we always accept donations to cover that expense. If you want a package mailed outside the US you will have to pay the actual cost.
